A family member who knows I have been "experimenting" and creating jewelry with polymer clay for about three years recently sent this book to me for my birthday. I glanced through the book's pages for about twenty-four hours and then investigated the process for returning a gift book to Amazon.Fortunately there is an easy way to return a book without the gift giver knowing what a poor choice the book was. Poor innocent gift giver was probably duped by the book's title.Warning! Any book claiming to teach students about about polymer clay that has poorly focused black and white photos is from amateur city. When teaching about an art subject the author should use crisp color photos (unless you are a disciple of Ansel Adams or a great portrait photographer and have a dramatic photo of Winston Churchill or Maya Angelou).I did not really study the text of the book to see if it was accurate because I was so turned off by the photos on the pages. If the photo examples are so carelessly displayed I felt I could not bother to read the text.This book was the ultimate example of self-publication or vanity press. Read the photograph of the back cover carefully. The last paragraph reads that the company "pulishes". Not "publishes", the company "pulishes". It would seem that they cannot even proofread their own blurb.

This review might contain spoilers, I'll try not to reveal anything although, nothing really happens that hasn't been disclosed on the synopsis.Blood Stain volume 1 is the story of spunky but loser graduate student, Elliot, whom I'm having a hard time believing has gotten through a chem degree considering the fact that most of the first half of this story is about her inability to hold even a basic job, apparently all from the 1800s. A butcher! A baker! A candlestick maker! Good lord, maybe I am not in on the nursery rhyme joke as I was not a fan that followed the series from DeviantArt or followed Linda's work prior to picking up this comic but I found it all very ridiculous. Regardless, most of this is designed to establish our protagonist as a well-meaning but ultimately incompetent individual. I believe the intent was to find her ineptitude endearing but I found it a little frustrating that she seemed surprised by any sort of manual labor as if she had never held down a job. Not just a job for a short period of time, but ... any job EVER. I was willing to put that aside because we are in the genesis of this character's journey but there wasn't anything particularly likable about her when she interacted with any other character (she called her sister on maternity-leave a freeloader... ouch). Coupled with her lack of ability, I was beginning to lose interest in Elliot but I was intrigued by the premise of the story so I pressed on.Except... There isn't much story. Predictably there is tension between her and her boyfriend as the ONE job she's able to hold down for two months suddenly causes a rift between them. I don't know how long they've been together but it's probably best they cut it off if her finally being a responsible individual is ruining the relationship. So... not surprisingly, because she eventually needs to get the job with Vlad Stien, Elliot is fired tanking her already tenuous confidence levels. And because she's comically terrible and has apparently run through every open position in the town she lives in, she is forced to call Vlad. Finally, Elliot is on her way to meet Dr. Stein (and I think that puts us at 2/3 of the story) but even then she begins to question taking the job because Vlad sounds *creepy*. Everything surrounding the job is *creepy*. A friend of a friend of a women Elliot has never met says that the job is *creepy*. Elliot can barely skin a potato but she's at least smart enough to stay away from creepy dudes! And that is part of my frustration with this story, instead of seeing anything remotely creepy from Vlad Stien outside of his blatant disregard for proper handling of biofluids, you never really see anything creepy. Elliot doesn't actually meet him face to face until the final page of the book.Other stupid scenarios happen that honestly, could just have easily been handled in a way to create drama that didn't involve making everyone look like idiots but I realize that making a story isn't easy. Still, Elliot is basically a manic pixie girl that people who are entrenched in geek culture can probably identify with. Right, I forgot to mention that she's a gamer girl that can't adult so millennials will probably feel some empathy for her (still mostly self-imposed) situation. Still, for a synopsis that establishes her as having a "near pathological addiction," I think there is only one scene that shows her playing an mmo and no scenes that establish her as having a serious problem with gaming. This to me would have had a greater impact on her failing relationship. I believe that there is also one shot that mentions that Elliot's mother is in the hospital which could have been a great emotional driver for her taking a job with a mad man instead of being terrible at every menial job in existence.So what's good about this comic? Well it's got great art even though I feel that Linda tends to shy away from perspective work. The characters are expressive and the coloring is vibrant and mood-appropriate.I debated on whether or not I would purchase the next volume and I think I'll give the next book a go to see if the introduction of Dr. Stein as a main character actually pushes some sort of narrative forward. Otherwise, I don't really know if this book is worth it? It's possible you could skip this and go right to the beginning of book 2 and not miss much exposition.I will update this review after I get book 2.

Well, this is certainly not what I expected. I was kinda hoping for something more piles-of-bodies-ey. The plot doesn't actually progress much and this feels like the equivalent of an issue 1 rather than a volume 1, as far as plot progression. The end feels exactly like the end of a first issue.But all that's okay, because what we DO get is some fantastic humor and Elly's inner world, which is an awesome place to be. Her thoughts are like these Family Guy-style cut-aways. Except these are funny. This book is friggin hilarious. It sucks that I feel like I got cut-off when the story was seemingly just starting. But I had a blast throughout the whole thing. I will probably keep going with this. It really procrastinates moving the plot, but it's a really good time while it's doing that.

I love this comic. I follow the artist and read this comic on Deviant Art and I love it. Once I heard this comic was getting a printed release I was so excited I actually per-ordered it back in October of 2015. I love the story, the art, and everything about it, I love the facial expressions as well, a lot of them make me laugh especially when it gets further into the story. The characters all have a very brilliant life of their own and the characters are relate-able. I can't wait for the next volume to come out, it is so nice to actually be able to sit down and read this story and see the awesome art work by Linda Sejic without having to turn the computer on and stare at a screen and tire out my poor eyes. I'll always keep reading it as it comes out on DA but I'm definitely going to continue getting the printed versions of it to.

Beautiful artwork and a cute, weird story that really appeals to me. It is a slice of life sort of comic, but it manages to leave you hanging at the end of this volume. Its a quick read, but Linda Sejic is generous with extra sketches and scrapped Blood stain panels. I found the story of how Blood Stain came to be, very sweet and inspiring.There's always something really special about owning a truly lovely comic or artbook in physical form, plus what better way to support artists than buying the wonderful fruits of their labor and tears.

I read these volumes online for free(!) and came here to buy them in hard print. What better endorsement than that of how great these are? I love Linda Sejic's humor, and her artwork in this graphic novel/comic series is wonderful. I'll be buying the next volume when it's available.

As a lover of Sunstone, I became acquainted with this comic series. Having read Blood Stain, I can't think of anything I didn't like. The artwork and storyboarding was attractive, effective , and engaging. The story and characters worked together well. The premise was enticing and the comedy was well written. I've enjoyed every page the author has released so far and I hope to read more soon.

90% of the story is the same thing. You might start to think youre reading some kind of time traveling strory but youre not.Linda's art is good and on the steps of being phenomenal but her storytelling and dialogue could use some sharpening. Overall the story feels like something that couldve been summed up in a 1issue story. Not an entire graphic novel

He send me advanced copy of this book, but because of my traveling to Europe I put my review very late. As all his previous books this book is very interesting too. Why not? The book based on dialogues of real people. It is always interesting. Do you like to go to “dry” lecture or “very live” discussions? I like real exchange of opinions. This book made it. My suggestion is – to give copy of this book to all new people in mosque.“Many think differently, feel differently, seeking God or meeting God in different ways. In this crowd, in this range of religions, there is only one certainty that we have for all: we are all children of God,” Pope Francis said in his message, released Jan. 6, the feast of the Epiphany.“There is no god but God” - the beginning of the shahada, the Muslim profession of faith (just the first part). This is Theology, and Ahmed is trying to explain all difficult issues. After September 11, 2001 we are started to use new term "clash of civilizations," by Samuel Huntington. Do we really see clash of civilizations, or this is new brainwashing tool to use for dividing world between different groups. Reverend Franklin Graham — son of Billy Graham and former spiritual adviser to the American president, George W. Bush, publicly called Islam "an evil and wicked religion." Silicon imaging is a fast growing area of the semiconductor industry. Its use in cell phone cameras is already well established, and emerging applications include web, security, automotive and digital cinema cameras. High performance silicon imaging covers the fundamentals of silicon image sensors, with a focus on existing performance issues and potential solutions. It then considers several applications for the technology. Part I begins with a review of the fundamental principles of photosensing and the operational principles of silicon image sensors. It then focuses in on charged coupled device (CCD) image sensors and metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) images sensors. The performance issues considered include image quality, sensitivity, data-transfer rate, system level integration, rate of power consumption and the potential for 3D imaging. Part II then provides a detailed discussion of how CMOS technology can be used in a range of areas, including in mobile devices, image sensors for automotive applications, sensors for several forms of scientific imaging, and sensors for medical applications. High performance silicon imaging will be an excellent resource for both academics and engineers working in the optics, photonics, semiconductor and electronics industries. Daniel Durini is the leader of a staff unit at the Central Institute for Engineering, Electronics and Analytics (ZEA-2) of the Forschungszentrum Jülich. He is an author of more than 45 papers and the holder of two patents in the area of CMOS photosensors.

About the Author

Daniel Durini is currently Research Professor in areas of microelectronics and radiation detection at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE) in Puebla, Mexico. He obtained the B.Sc. degree in Electrical-Electronic Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2002, the M.Sc. degree in area of Microelectronics from the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics in Mexico in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in area of Microelectronics from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany in 2009. He was with the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems (IMS) in Duisburg, Germany, between 2004 and end of 2013, where he led during the last four years a group dedicated to developing special CMOS process modules for high-performance photodetection devices, pixel structures and imagers. Prior to his current position, he was with the Central Institute of Engineering, Electronics and Analytics, ZEA-2 - Electronic Systems of the research centre Forschungszentrum Jülich in Jülich, Germany, where he headed between 2015 and beginning of 2018 the development of Detector Systems dedicated to scientific applications. He received the Duisburger Sparkasse Award for outstanding Ph.D. thesis in 2009 and two best paper awards. He has authored and co-authored more than 60 technical papers and three book chapters, and holds six patents in the area of CMOS image sensors. He is Member of the IEEE since 2009, and forms part of the National System for Researchers (SNI) in Mexico since 2014.

My daughters are obsessed with HP and this quiz book has been great. I can't believe how much they retain from the books (if only they remembered their multiplication tables with the same amount of vigor!) The questions are a good mix of easy and hard, which was perfect for our family.

This book is fun, but not exactly what I expected. I found a couple errors and was a little disappointed that a lot of the questions were reused by simply rewording them. There's so much material to come up with plenty of original questions that it seems lazy to reuse any. So, as I said, a little disappointing in that regard, but since I bought this mostly for my 7 year old daughter to quiz her friends, it'll do for that purpose. All in all, I'm satisfied with the purchase, just wish there'd been a bit more to it. Most of the questions are pretty easy, too.

This book is very simple, but a lot of fun to think about. The back of the book gives you answers, but I think it would be better to just re-read or even watch the movies to find the answers out myself. I got this as a gift for my aunt who not only LOVES Harry Potter, but is also a teacher. After I bought it for her, I kind of wish I got one for myself!

I purchased this to prepare for a Harry Potter Trivia Night. This book does a great job of covering all the big topics from the books and films. It also has some really obscure questions and facts that I probably wouldn't have thought of.

I got this book for my siblings and I to use at Christmas. It was ok but the difficulty level is all over the place. Some questions were so obscure, and others could have been guessed by someone who has barely heard of Harry Potter. Still kind of fun, but not what I'd hoped for.

I bought this book for my little brother's eighth birthday. He's a huge Harry Potter fan, as am I, and this book was perfect for him! It's small, and easy to carry around and hold, but good quality. He loves to quiz us all on the Harry Potter facts!

Love this book! I thought I knew a lot about Harry Potter but this book has stuff you never even think of. Makes me want to re-read all the books again!
