Chloe Perkins is the editor and author of a few dozen books for children. She lives in New York City, with her husband, Rico, and their corgi puppy/sometimes shark, Marius. Series book that will be hard to use in diverse classrooms. It does have a lot of information but comes nowhere near describing the diversity of China itself, of Chinese heritage students living in the USA. But if a teacher has only book about China, it is better than nothing. I am using it as an example in a course on child and adolescent literature of why we need to search for more and better books about children's ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Bought this for my elementary school students, many of whom are Chinese-speaking but have never been to or don't remember China. They love learning about the country and it helped a lot of them feel more connected to a place they've only heard about.
